Minimalist Kitchen Checklist

Disclaimer: this is going to be different for everyone! Some people are absolute chefs and others (like me) only know how to use a can opener. Use this as a guide and tweak it for you needs. There isn’t a minimalist judge out there who is going to condemn you for having an extra fork. The key to creating your minimalist kitchen is to only include things you truly use and that is all that matters!

Minimalist Kitchen Checklist:

  • Silverware (forks, spoons, butter knives)
    • Enough for each person in your family plus a few extra for guests
      • No you don’t need fancy salad forks or whatever they are
    • I also have steak knives as we eat a lot of meat
  • Knives
    • Chefs knife
    • Serrated knife
    • Paring knife
  • Plates and Bowls
    • Enough for each person in family plus a few extra for guests
  • Cups (I’m not sure why, but everyone loves to hoard cups!)
    • Yes, I’m talking regular cups and coffee mugs!
      • Enough for each person in family
    • Water bottles- again with the hoarding
      • Each person in the family has designated water bottle and that’s it!
  • Spatulas (2)
  • Wooden Spoon (1)
  • Rubber end tongs (1)
  • Pizza cutter (1)
  • Measuring spoons (1 set)
  • Measuring cups (1 set)
  • Kitchen scissors (1)
  • Can Opener (1)
  • Cutting Board (1)
  • Strainer (1)
  • Baking Sheet (1)
  • Skillets
    • 1 large
    • 1 medium
  • Pasta Pot (6 quart)
  • Sauce Pan
  • Mixing Bowls
    • 1 large
    • 1 medium
  • Food storage containers
    • Look at how much you really use them…do you cook a lot and have left overs?
  • Hand Mixer
    • Unless you are baking all the time then go for the fancy stand mixer.
  • Toaster
  • Coffee maker
  • Drying towels (2)
  • Rags (4)
  • Oven Mits (2)

Again, this is going to vary by each household, but this is a great start to your minimalist kitchen.
