Simple Bedtime Routine

Lack of sleep is a serious problem that affects all areas of our lives. I’m 100% one of those people that needs 8 hours a night or forget about me being a functional human being. I use to pop benadryl like candy and add on a sprinkle of melatonin to even think about falling asleep. Then I started to incorporate this simple bedtime routine and everything changed….not only do I fall asleep much faster, but I wake up in a much better mood.

Here is an example of my simple bedtime routine that you can easily follow!

  • Skin care routine
    • I’ve been pretty lucky and have decent skin so I never even incorporated a skin care routine before this, but man does it feel good to have a fresh face before bed!
      • There are many routines out there, but at least do a cleanser and moisturizer prior to hopping into bed for that fresh feeling.
  • Brush Teeth
    • Because cavities
  • Put phone on silent
    • I promise you don’t need to hear your instagram notifications
    • And speaking of phones- this is not the time to scroll
      • I know, I know- I love to scroll through tiktok before bed, but do this on the couch instead.
        • Experts say the bed should be for sleeping only (and you know other fun stuff).
  • Get comfy!
    • Put on those comfy PJs or get nakey (whatever floats your boat)
    • Snuggle up with your favorite pillow and blanket.
  • Meditation
    • Don’t be scared by the word meditation! It does not have to be intimidating and I promise it will be a game changer for not only your sleep, but your mental health as well.
    • Ok I lied, grab your phone one more time
      • 2 words- GUIDED MEDITATION
        • This was a game changer for me when it came to meditation.
          • I use to try to sit in a corner and I would last 2 minute tops before I went crazy in my own thoughts. With guided meditation it makes it so much easier to stay in that calm and meditative state!
        • There are TONS of free guided meditations out there!
          • Youtube and Podcasts are a great resource.
          • Find a meditation focused on sleep- press play- and before you know it you will be sleeping liking a baby!

And that’s it! See it’s not too bad huh?! Try this for at least a week before giving up on it!

Let me know how it works for you!

Sweet Dreams,

Ashley
